One Year of Sacramento Running News
An auspicious day passed by without fanfare recently and I wanted to call your attention to it: June 29, 2011, marked the one-year anniversary of the Sacramento Running News.
Over the course of those twelve months, I’ve written around 160 posts or articles of varying length and quality. In the process, I have learned many things and met many nice and interesting people.
I have learned that there are more races in the area than one person can write about. At the same time, I’ve learned that every race has a story (or two) worth telling.
Before starting this project, I had zero history with track. I didn’t run track in high school, and I didn’t know anything about it. I still don’t know much about it, but I have learned that I really do enjoy watching it.
I’ve been pleased by the support I’ve received from the running community and I’ve learned that people appreciate being noticed for their hard work.
Most importantly, I have learned that writing about running does not helped me run faster.
During this past year, I hope you’ve found something useful or interesting here and, most of all, I hope you’ll come back and visit from time-to-time.
Thanks for reading and I’ll see you at the races!
Please keep it up John! I check it every day.
Thanks for all you do,
Eric

John – I, and I know many others appreciate what you do. I also want to put-out kudos to Pete Zinsli who has toiled away for many years supporting NorCal and Sacramento runnning specifically.
2Good job, John. I am one of the “many others.” I appreciate your efforts even if you don’t think jumping to conclusions is an exercise program.
3SRN is so great for the running community. You do a terrific job. Thanks, JB!
4I also look forward to your posts – great job!! Interesting content and a nice variety. Thank you!
5Congrats! Thanks for all your hard work. Your blog makes an already great running/walking community a little better.
6John, thanks for the site! I found it a couple of months ago when (during a run, naturally) I had the thought, “There should be a website for runners in the Sacramento area. I wonder if sacramentorunning.com is available.” When I got home, I typed the url into my browser, and here you were!
7Hi John, I am looking for volunteers to help rehab the running track around McKinley Park. We’ve had two work days so far and have replaced the DG around about 1/4 of the track. We’re trying to fill in the holes and create a smooth safe surface. Our next work day is Sept. 10, we will run two crews, an early one starting at 7:30 or 8-until 10 (it will depend on when the city can come) and a later one 9 until 12. We’ll have snacks and drinks.
The city doesn’t have the staff to do it, so I am hoping we can get a group out to finish it up.
8thanks
Ditto Kevin…both SRN and Zinsli are very valuable, informative and entertaining.
9Congrats on your anniversary. This site is a great resource for the Sacramento running community, and entertaining too, and your efforts are much appreciated!
