On the shoulder of Batizovský štít

In case you were wondering, I didn’t just give up on the Sacramento Running News. I have, in fact, been out of the country for most of the month of October and not able to post here.

I have been travelling in the Czech Republic and the Republic of Slovakia where I was given the opportunity to be a guest lecturer on environmental topics.

In my down time, I had many interesting and peculiar adventures of the type you get when you can’t understand anything being said around you.

I also met many interesting, warm, and generous people.

My original plan was to keep up with the occasional article, but in reality there were days where the only internet access I had was via my Amazon Kindle (In your face, iPad!).

Another week, I could only connect to the outside world by snagging a stray and intermittent Wi-Fi signal with my Droid X. This was accomplished by standing at a window in the front of my flat and holding the phone up to the glass. (Seriously.)

But now I’m jet-lagged but back in California and ready to get back to work.

I’ve missed you Sacramento!
