Guy West Bridge Closed
According to the County Parks District, the Guy West bridge at CSUS will be closed from July 18 to August 24. The bridge is to be closed while the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers completes levee improvements on both sides of the river. While the levee road will be closed, the Parkway trail beneath the bridge on the north side (near University Avenue) will remain open. The nearest alternate river crossings are the J Street bridge (downstream) and the Howe Avenue bridge (upstream). Plan your run accordingly!
Thanks John. Do you know the status of the southside levee access into Sac State?
1The info from the County was fairly vague. I’ve asked someone to look at it this evening and will report back.
2A friend went by this morning and said it looked like they were detouring traffic around the bridge on the side side of the river, but also that folks were still walking across the bridge early in the morning.
3After further review…the south side coming from J Street is closed so you have to get into Sac State from J Street. From Howe, there is another ramp in to Sac State prior to getting up to the guy west bridge.
My beef about this is that if the work needed to be done on the Watt bridge and surrounding roads, would they close all of those roads for a month and make all of the cars take detours??? NOT!
