Kevin Pool, Michelle Meyer Win at Napa

March 04, 2013 By: John Blue Category: General Running News, Masters Runners, Road Races

kevin crossing the finish lineOn Sunday, Folsom’s Kevin Pool was supposed to just be running a “training run” in advance of April’s Boston Marathon.

I’m curious at what point he decided to go ahead and push for the win at the 35th Annual Kaiser Permanente Napa Valley Marathon, because at some point he had to have decided to pass and then stay in front of all those other people out there on the course.

On the other hand, San Francisco’s Michelle Meyer, 25, had reportedly set a goal of running a fast time, and possibly earning the women’s win.

At the end of the day, both of them emerged victorious and were crowned Road Runners Club of America National Marathon Champions because the race served as the Road Runners Club of America’s 2013 National Marathon Championship.

superbowl 2013By John Schumacher

Hungary’s Adam Kovacs and Turlock’s Kimberly Cloud came to the Super Bowl Sunday 10K Run eager to get in good, fast training runs to help them reach their 2013 goals.

On a cool, fun-filled Sunday morning, Kovacs and Cloud wound up winning individual titles in the fourth annual race to kick off Super Bowl festivities.

Kovacs, 26, won the men’s race with a 30-minute, 39.8-second effort. Vacaville’s Cheyne Inman, a member of the Sacramento Running Association’s Elite Team, finished second in 30:58.3 with Sacramento State’s Matthew Frazier third in 31:37.1.

Cloud crossed the line in 38:20.6, ahead of Sacramento State teammates Justine Rea (38:58.0) and Emily Johnston (38:58.1).

Like the cherry blossoms around the duck pond, the Zoo Zoom is a sure sign of spring in Land Park.

Conditions were perfect today–sunny and warm–for a fast run in the park.

Kevin Pool and Stacey Worthen were the winners in the 5Km, in 15:02 and 18:45.

Davis Labor Day Races

September 05, 2011 By: John Blue Category: Road Races

For the past few years, I’ve made it a habit to run the Golden Valley Harriers‘ Labor Day Races. There is always the added excitement of trying not to be beaten by a 13-year-old visiting runner from Japan.

This year, I was unable to go but thought folks might be looking for results here. So if you are looking for them, the results are here.

Looks like they had a fast winning time for the 10K! Cheyne Inman of Vacaville came in and ran 32:51. Interestingly, another fast Vacavillian came and won the 5K. This was Andrew Timmins, who finished in 15:51. Are they putting something in the water?
